Turistas australianos infectados com superbactéria após viagem à Índia

Três turistas australianos que viajaram recentemente para a Índia, um dos quais para realizar uma cirurgia estética, foram infetados com uma nova superbactéria resistente a quase todos os antibióticos, já detetada em dezenas de cidadãos britânicos.

A superbactéria foi detectada em vários hospitais britânicos e, segundo um estudo publicado na revista britânica The Lancet, é originária de países do sul da Ásia.

Alguns dos doentes britânicos tinham viajado para a Índia e para o Paquistão para realizarem cirurgias estéticas ou o que é denominado como «turismo médico».

Um dos pacientes australianos tinha sido submetido a uma cirurgia estética em Bombaim.

Peter Collignon, chefe do serviço de doenças infecciosas do hospital de Camberra, que está a acompanhar um dos doentes, admitiu «uma real preocupação» sobre a propagação deste «germe resistente e de difícil tratamento».

Entretanto, um responsável do hospital universitário AZ VUB, em Bruxelas, divulgou hoje que um cidadão belga, que tinha viajado para o Paquistão, morreu em junho passado por causa desta superbactéria.

A nova superbactéria é resistente a quase todos os tipos de antibióticos, incluindo aqueles geralmente reservados para emergências e ao tratamento de infeções multi-resistentes.

O encontro anual Club Bilderberg, que reúne chefes de Estado e de Governo e líderes empresariais globais decorre a partir de quinta-feira em Sitges, Espanha.

A reunião, que decorre anualmente, é privada e fechada à imprensa, com as suas conclusões a serem mantidas em segredo.

Temas económicos e políticos dominam a agenda destas reuniões, onde já participou um amplo leque de líderes portugueses, incluindo José Sócrates, Durão Barroso, Jorge Sampaio, Francisco Pinto Balsemão, Mira Amaral, Antonio Guterres, Vítor Constâncio, Ferreira Oliveira e Ricardo Salgado, entre muitos outros.

O encontro deste ano - em cada ano acontece num país diferente -decorre no hotel Dolce de Sitges, a localidade costeira de Barcelona, um local onde já são visíveis, há uma semana, fortes medidas de segurança.

Entre os espanhóis que participam anualmente no encontro contam-se a rainha Sofia, os presidentes da Prisa, Juan Luis Cebrián, e da Acciona, José Manuel Entrecanales, e o ex-ministro da Economia, Pedro Solbes.

Banco do Vaticano suspeito de lavagem de dinheiro

A justiça italiana está a investigar o banco do Vaticano por suspeita de envolvimento em esquemas de lavagem de dinheiro, avançou hoje, terça-feira, o jornal “La Repubblica”.

O diário adianta que os alvos da investigação são o Instituto das Obras Religiosas (IOR), nome como é conhecido o banco oficial do Vaticano, e dez outros bancos italianos, incluindo grandes instituições como a Intesa San Saolo e a Unicredit.

Segundo o jornal, os investigadores desconfiam que pessoas que têm residência fiscal em Itália estão a usar o IOR como uma "cortina" para esconder diversos crimes, como fraude e evasão fiscal.

O IOR gere contas bancárias das ordens religiosas e associações católicas e beneficia do estatuto "offshore" do Vaticano.

Os investigadores descobriram que foram feitas transacções de cerca de 180 milhões de euros, num período de dois anos, numa das contas geridas pelo IOR.

Em Setembro de 2009, o representante do Santander em Itália, Ettore Gotti Tedeschi, foi nomeado presidente executivo do IOR.

O arcebispo norte-americano Paul Marcinkus, que liderou o banco entre 1971 e 1989, esteve envolvido numa série de escândalos, entre os quais a falência do banco privado, Banco Ambrosiano, em 1982, entre acusações de ligações à máfia e terrorismo político.

The British lawyer who last week called for introducing international laws through the United Nations which would make it a crime against humanity to question the reality of man-made global warming has close ties with the Club of Rome – the ultra elitist organization which openly bragged of how it invented the climate change scare as a means of manipulating the global population to accept world government.
British lawyer-turned-campaigner Polly Higgins (pictured top) recently launched an initiative to have the UN put pressure on national governments to pass laws that would declare the mass destruction of ecosystems a crime against peace, punishable by the International Criminal Court.
Under the guise of going after big corporations and polluters for the war crime of emitting the gas that humans exhale and plants breathe, the proposal would actually target individuals and people who merely express skepticism towards man-made global warming.
“Supporters of a new ecocide law also believe it could be used to prosecute “climate deniers” who distort science and facts to discourage voters and politicians from taking action to tackle global warming and climate change,” reported the London Guardian.
Some respondents to the Guardian article agreed that merely questioning whether man-made climate change was real should be criminalized – literally calling for the establishment of a UN-run thought police that would prosecute anyone who expressed dissent against the AGW belief system.
“Would be nice if corporate-sponsored climate change denial was made an offence,” wrote one.
“Think about that lineage and possible development of a war-crimes-style trial: Come up with an issue that will fit the bill to terrify the public into accepting the strictures and governance that you demand out of fear of overpopulation (and a general control fetish), then follow that up with putting those who challenged you in the dock,” writes Planet Gore.
“I’m thinking hard, and have catalogued quite an inventory already, but must admit that this might be the best manifestation of the greens’ fascistic tendencies and totalitarian bent.”

It has now emerged that Higgins is on the board of a company called DESERTEC (www.desertec.org), which is a “charitable initiative of the Club of Rome,” according to an official DESERTEC press release.
Who or what is the Club of Rome?
The organization was founded in 1968 by global elite kingpin David Rockefeller and counts amongst its members some of the most influential power brokers on the planet, including current and former Heads of State, UN bureaucrats , high-level politicians and government officials, diplomats, scientists, economists, and business leaders from around the globe.
The Club of Rome’s 1972 publication The Limits To Growth was a Malthusian blueprint on how the human population needed to be reduced in order to prevent an ecological collapse, which in itself was merely a disguised version of the abhorrent eugenicist ideas that were circulating in the early part of the 20th century and eventually died out with Hitler. The widely discredited population bomb paranoia of the 70’s and 80’s was gradually replaced by the climate change fearmongering that we see the organization pushing today, which again is merely another regurgitation of the eugenics-obsessed policies of the elite.
Prominent members of the Club of Rome include Al Gore and Maurice Strong, both of whom are intimately involved with privately-owned carbon trading groups like the Chicago Climate Exchange, whose multi-million dollar profits are solely reliant on protecting the credibility of the man-made global warming thesis from skeptics who have challenged its legitimacy in light of the Climategate scandal.
On page 75 of their 1990 publication entitled The First Global Revolution, the organization outlined how they would manufacture ecological scares in order to manipulate the public into accepting the imposition of a dictatorial world government run by them.
“In searching for a common enemy against whom we can unite, we came up with the idea that pollution, the threat of global warming, water shortages, famine and the like would fit the bill…. All these dangers are caused by human intervention… The real enemy, then, is humanity itself,” states the report, which can be read in full at the end of this article.
The passage appears under a subheadline entitled, “The common enemy of humanity is Man.”
Of course, to unite the public against a common enemy, by using divide and conquer to turn humanity against itself, villains need to be created in the public eye who can be blamed for slowing efforts to save the planet from the mythical threat of global warming, even as Arctic ice levels return to normal and much of the globe has just experienced its coldest winter in decades.
With global warmists despondent at the fact that reality hasn’t backed up their increasingly fanatical predictions, and with public opinion increasingly turning against them, they’re simply pushing ahead anyway with the agenda to impose authoritarian control measures to regulate and tax every aspect of our existence.
And if you don’t like it, then you’re obviously a well-funded propagandist for oil companies (which in fact are the most aggressive proponents of global warming), and merely questioning the likes of Al Gore is a crime against humanity for which you will be summarily silenced and punished.

Leaked U.S. Document Calls For “Global Regime” To Tackle Climate Change

Says critics must be disarmed, all elements of Copenhagen Accord must be operationalised

A confidential U.S. government document obtained by the London Guardian highlights the ongoing agenda to create a structure of global governance in the name of combating climate change.
“Titled Strategic communications objectives and dated 11 March 2010, it outlines the key messages that the Obama administration wants to convey to its critics and to the world media in the run-up to the vital UN climate talks in Cancun, Mexico in November.” The Guardian reports.
The newspaper says that the document (full text below) was “accidentally left on a European hotel computer” before it was passed to their editors.
The number one item on the itinerary is to “Reinforce the perception that the US is constructively engaged in UN negotiations in an effort to produce a global regime to combat climate change.” (my emphasis)
The news comes on the back of revelations that rich countries have threatened to cut vital aid to developing nations if they do not back the deal agreed at the UN climate summit in Copenhagen last year.
Elsewhere, the leaked document pinpoints the need to continue “driving the climate change story” in the mainstream media, but also identifies the need to “disarm” critics and to bypass traditional media outlets to do so, focusing more on “new media”.
The document also highlights a need to “Create a clear understanding of the CA’s [Copenhagen accord's] standing and the importance of operationalising ALL elements.”
Although the final Copenhagen agreement was largely dismissed as a failure by both the mainstream media and climate skeptics, it established the framework for a global government which will control climate finances via taxes on CO2 emissions.
The latest leaked U.S. document calls for operationalising the elements of that framework.
The final text of the accord (PDF) states that funds obtained from climate financing will be controlled by a “governance structure,” and that a “High Level Panel” will be appointed to decide where the money will come from. In effect, this means that a UN-controlled structure of global governance will override the sovereignty of nation states in collecting and doling out funds obtained under the justification of climate change.
The agreement also gives the green light for carbon trading markets, which as we have documented are all owned by climate kingpins like Maurice Strong and Al Gore, to be more heavily financed and expanded.

Leaked UN documents uncovered in February also highlighted the need to establish a global governance structure in the name of combating climate change by 2012.
“Moving towards a green economy would also provide an opportunity to re-examine national and global governance structures and consider whether such structures allow the international community to respond to current and future environmental and development challenges and to capitalize on emerging opportunities,” the leaked white paper stated.
The paper outlined that the imposition of such “global governance structures” will be achieved with the help of “vast wealth transfers” from richer countries (in the form of carbon taxes levied on citizens) to poorer nations, amounting to no less than $45 trillion dollars.
The UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon, has not been shy in proclaiming the unfolding agenda for a global governance structure to override national parliaments on the issue of climate change.
In an October New York Times editorial entitled “We Can Do It,” Ki-moon wrote that efforts to impose restrictions on CO2 emissions “Must include an equitable global governance structure.”
He re-iterated those sentiments in December following the Copenhagen summit, telling the LA Times “We will establish a global governance structure to monitor and manage the implementation of this.”
Last year at a forum in Oxford, England, Al Gore also called for global governance in order to implement global agreements on climate change.
Globalists are persistent and they will continue hammering away until they get what they want, not because the environment is on the verge of collapse, but because their agenda for world government is stalling as more people find out the true agenda behind the global warming scam.
Meanwhile, anyone who suggests global governance is on the agenda is derided as a conspiracy theorist, despite such open announcements of this very intention.

• Continue to conduct interviews with print, TV and radio outlets driving the climate change story.
• Increase use of off-the-record conversations.
• Strengthen presence in international media markets during trips abroad. Focus efforts on radio and television markets.
• Take greater advantage of new media opportunities such as podcasts to advance US position in the field bypassing traditional media outlets.
• Consider a series of policy speeches/public forums during trips abroad to make our case directly to the developing world.
Key outreach efforts
• Comprehensive and early outreach to policy makers, key stakeholders and validators is critical to broadening support for our positions in the coming year.
• Prior to the 9-11 April meeting in Bonn it would be good for Todd to meet with leading NGOs. This should come in the form of 1:1s and small group sessions.
• Larger group sessions, similar to the one held at CAP prior to Copenhagen, will be useful down the line, but more intimate meetings in the spring are essential to building the foundation of support. Or at the very least, disarming some of the harsher critics.

Afeganistão é o primeiro produtor mundial de haxixe e de ópio

O Afeganistão é não apenas o primeiro produtor mundial de ópio como também é o maior produtor de haxixe, ultrapassando Marrocos, refere um estudo divulgado hoje, quarta-feira, pela agência das Nações Unidas contra a droga e o crime.

Polícias afegãos mostram pacotes de ópio confiscados ontem

"Apesar de outros países terem culturas ainda maiores, o rendimento surpreendente da colheita da cannabis afegã - 145 quilogramas/hectare de resina de cannabis, mais do triplo dos 40 quilogramas/hectare de Marrocos - faz do Afeganistão o maior produtor de haxixe, com uma produção estimada em 1500 a 3500 toneladas por ano", explicou o director da agência da ONU (ONUDC), António Maria Costa, num comunicado.
Entre 10 mil e 24 mil hectares de cannabis são cultivados anualmente no Afeganistão, segundo a estimativa desta agência da ONU no primeiro estudo sobre a cannabis no país.
O rendimento anual da produção de haxixe no Afeganistão representa "10 a 20% do rendimento da produção de ópio, que foi de 438 milhões de dólares (cerca de 325 milhões de euros) em 2009".
Mais barato de cultivar e de recolher, o haxixe acaba por ter um rendimento mais elevado que o ópio para os agricultores afegãos, correspondendo a 3900 dólares (2890 euros) por hectare, contra 3600 (2671 euros) do ópio.
A cultura da papoila continua, no entanto, dominante no país, uma vez que a cultura da cannabis exige muita água durante o Verão.
Os locais de cultivo do haxixe são, como os da papoila do ópio, situados nas zonas de instabilidade política, sobretudo no sul do país. A venda é feita em todo o território, segundo o estudo. "No Afeganistão, todas as drogas, seja o ópio ou a cannabis, são taxadas por quem controla o território e constituem um rendimento suplementar aos insurgentes", acrescentou António Maria Costa.
O estudo da ONUDC foi realizado através de inquéritos em 1634 aldeias de 20 províncias que mostraram que a cultura da cannabis é importante em pelo menos 17 das 34 províncias do país.
Em 2009, o Afeganistão produziu 6900 toneladas de ópio, o que corresponde a 90% da produção mundial, segundo a agência.

According to news reports, the U.S. military is shipping “bunker-buster” bombs to the U.S. Air Force base at Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean. The Herald Scotland reports that experts say the bombs are being assembled for an attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities.

The newspaper quotes Dan Piesch, director of the Centre for International Studies and Diplomacy at the University of London: “They are gearing up totally for the destruction of Iran.”

The next step will be a staged “terrorist attack,” a “false flag” operation as per Operation Northwoods, for which Iran will be blamed. As Iran and its leadership have already been demonized, the “false flag” attack will suffice to obtain US and European public support for bombing Iran. The bombing will include more than the nuclear facilities and will continue until the Iranians agree to regime change and the installation of a puppet government. The corrupt American media will present the new puppet as “freedom and democracy.”

If the past is a guide, Americans will fall for the deception. In the February issue of the American Behavioral Scientist, a scholarly journal, Professor Lance DeHaven-Smith writes that state crimes against democracy (SCAD) involve government officials, often in combination with private interests, that engage in covert activities in order to implement an agenda. Examples include McCarthyism or the fabrication of evidence of communist infiltration, the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution based on false claims of President Johnson and Pentagon chief McNamara that North Vietnam attacked a U.S. naval vessel, the burglary of the office of Daniel Ellsberg’s psychiatrist in order to discredit Ellsberg (the Pentagon Papers) as “disturbed,” and the falsified “intelligence” that Iraq possessed weapons of mass destruction in order to justify the U.S. invasion of Iraq.

There are many other examples. I have always regarded the 1995 bombing of the Murrah Federal Office Building in Oklahoma City as a SCAD. Allegedly, a disturbed Tim McVeigh used a fertilizer bomb in a truck parked outside the building. More likely, McVeigh was a patsy, whose fertilizer bomb was a cover for explosives planted inside the building.

“Bernhard, a secret history” has revealed that the prince was a member of the German Nazi party until 1934, three years before he married Princess Juliana, the future queen of the Netherlands.

Annejet van der Zijl, a Dutch historian, has found membership documents in Berlin’s Humboldt University that prove Prince Bernhard, who studied there, had joined Deutsche Studentenschaft, a National Socialist student fraternity, as well as the Nazi NSDAP and its paramilitary wing, the Sturmabteilung.

He left all the groups on leaving university in December 1934, when he went to work for the German chemical giant, IG Farben.

Encontrado gelo no Pólo Norte da Lua

A agência espacial norte-americana, NASA, anunciou, esta terça-feira, que o seu radar, lançado a bordo do satélite indiano Chandrayaan-1, detectou depósitos de gelo em mais de 40 pequenas crateras, perto do Pólo Norte da Lua.

De acordo com o Público, estas crateras vão dos 1,6 aos 15 quilómetros de diâmetro. «Poderemos estar a falar de 600 milhões de metros cúbicos de água gelada», lê-se em comunicado.

Recorde-se que até agora, vigorava a ideia de que a Lua era seca, exceptuando alguns gelos no fundo de crateras. «As múltiplas medições e os dados obtidos por instrumentos de várias missões lunares indicam que a criação, migração, deposição e retenção de água está a acontecer na Lua», disse Paul Spudis, responsável pelo projecto Mini-SAR, no Instituto Lunar e Planetário de Houston, no Texas.

O radar Mini-SAR da NASA foi lançado com o objectivo de mapear os depósitos de gelo na Lua.

Estrasburgo, 08 fev (Lusa) - O eurodeputado social democrata Paulo Rangel "denunciou" hoje, em Estrasburgo, o que afirmou ser "um plano do Governo para controlar" os meios de comunicação social pondo em causa "a liberdade de expressão".

"Eu queria denunciar aqui aquilo que se está a passar em Portugal neste momento, onde é claro que a comunicação social trouxe à luz um plano do Governo para controlar os jornais, para controlar estações de televisão, para controlar estações de rádio", disse Rangel no início da sessão plenária do Parlamento Europeu que se prolonga até quinta feira.

Para o eurodeputado do PSD, que pediu a palavra no período de declarações de um minuto, a situação em Portugal "põe em causa a liberdade de expressão".

Rangel deu o exemplo do "jornalista muito conhecido, Mário Crespo" que "viu censurada uma crónica sua, também por sugestão, ou aparente sugestão, do primeiro ministro".

O deputado europeu afirmou que o primeiro ministro, José Sócrates, "tem de dar explicações substanciais ao país", nomeadamente "explicar que não está a dominar, a saciar, a censurar a liberdade de expressão em Portugal".

"Pela forma que estamos a andar, Portugal já não é um Estado de direito é um Estado de direito formal onde o primeiro ministro se limita a formalidades, a procedimentos, a formalismos e não quer dar explicações substanciais", disse, acrescentando que, para Portugal quer "um estado de direito material".

Terça-feira dia 26 de Janeiro. Dia de Orçamento.

O Primeiro-ministro José Sócrates, o Ministro de Estado Pedro Silva Pereira, o Ministro de Assuntos Parlamentares, Jorge Lacão e um executivo de televisão encontraram-se à hora do almoço no restaurante de um hotel em Lisboa.

Fui o epicentro da parte mais colérica de uma conversa claramente ouvida nas mesas em redor. Sem fazerem recato, fui publicamente referenciado como sendo mentalmente débil (“um louco”) a necessitar de (“ir para o manicómio”). Fui descrito como “um profissional impreparado”. Que injustiça. Eu, que dei aulas na Independente. A defunta alma mater de tanto saber em Portugal.

Definiram-me como “um problema” que teria que ter “solução”. Houve, no restaurante, quem ficasse incomodado com a conversa e me tivesse feito chegar um registo. É fidedigno. Confirmei-o.

Uma das minhas fontes para o aval da legitimidade do episódio comentou (por escrito): “(…) o PM tem qualidades e defeitos, entre os quais se inclui uma certa dificuldade para conviver com o jornalismo livre (…)”. É banal um jornalista cair no desagrado do poder. Há um grau de adversariedade que é essencial para fazer funcionar o sistema de colheita, retrato e análise da informação que circula num Estado. Sem essa dialéctica só há monólogos.

Sem esse confronto só há Yes-Men cabeceando em redor de líderes do momento dizendo yes-coisas, seja qual for o absurdo que sejam chamados a validar. Sem contraditório os líderes ficam sem saber quem são, no meio das realidades construídas pelos bajuladores pagos. Isto é mau para qualquer sociedade. Em sociedades saudáveis os contraditórios são tidos em conta. Executivos saudáveis procuram-nos e distanciam-se dos executores acríticos venerandos e obrigados.

Nas comunidades insalubres e nas lideranças decadentes os contraditórios são considerados ofensas, ultrajes e produtos de demência. Os críticos passam a ser “um problema” que exige “solução”. Portugal, com José Sócrates, Pedro Silva Pereira, Jorge Lacão e com o executivo de TV que os ouviu sem contraditar, tornou-se numa sociedade insalubre.

Em 2010 o Primeiro-ministro já não tem tantos “problemas” nos media como tinha em 2009.

O “problema” Manuela Moura Guedes desapareceu.

O problema José Eduardo Moniz foi “solucionado”.

O Jornal de Sexta da TVI passou a ser um jornal à sexta-feira e deixou de ser “um problema”.

Foi-se o “problema” que era o Director do Público.

Agora, que o “problema” Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa começou a ser resolvido na RTP, o Primeiro Ministro de Portugal, o Ministro de Estado e o Ministro dos Assuntos Parlamentares que tem a tutela da comunicação social abordam com um experiente executivo de TV, em dia de Orçamento, mais “um problema que tem que ser solucionado”. Eu.

Que pervertido sentido de Estado. Que perigosa palhaçada.

Malaysia’s Mahathir Mohamad has once again stated that the September 11 attacks were a staged event, rejecting claims that his comments are a publicity stunt.
“What do I gain from a publicity stunt? I am merely going by a public statement. I am not going to be a Prime Minister anymore unless you (pointing to a journalist) want me to …” the former Malaysian prime minister told reporters on Friday.
After watching a three-hour video of the attack on the World Trade Center buildings, Mohamad, had suggested earlier in his blog that the twin towers had collapsed “demolition style.”
Later on Friday, Mahathir also called on local television stations to show the three-hour video.
“It sounds logical to me. Until today, you cannot even find scraps of the plane that crashed into the World Trade Centre and there is no picture of the other plane, which was supposed to crash.”
“The way the tower came crashing down was also funny. People who saw it were also not ordinary people. They were professional engineers and what they say is quite credible.”

“I wish some television stations would consent to show the video as it is not long and only three hours. You can then see what I saw.”
Mahathir also said some people were afraid of saying anything critical about the governments of powerful countries or accusing them of doing something wrong.
“But the government of powerful countries said lies to go to war,” he added
“I have great respect for the Arabs but for them to hijack four planes is not very Arab. Just imagine the amount of planning that would be involved.”
Rejecting claims that he was being insensitive to the victims, Mahathir stressed that he was “being more sensitive to the victims” as he was saying the attacks were carried out “deliberately.”
The former Malaysian prime minister also said that his views about how 9/11/2001 attacks were carried out would not affect Malaysia’s chances of attracting foreign investment.
“I have said this many times even when I was the prime minister. But we still have the foreign direct investment. However, we cannot rely on foreign direct investments alone. We must build on our own system,” he said.

No dia em que o Conselho da Europa discute o modo como a Organização Mundial de Saúde (OMS) enfrentou a gripe A, o presidente da Comissão de Saúde da Assembleia Parlamentar do Conselho da Europa lança duras críticas ao que aconteceu e garante que o mundo nunca esteve confrontado com uma pandemia.

O diagnóstico era falso e custou muito dinheiro. Só na Europa, foram gastos 5 mil milhões de euros com as vacinas para a gripe A.

Um negócio para a indústria farmacêutica, que Wolfand Wodarg considera escandaloso.

Este médico alemão, especialista em epidemiologia, afirma que as pessoas perderam a confiança na OMS e que este caso deve ser agora investigado pelo Conselho da Europa.

Wolfgang Wodarg critica o alarme desnecessário, lançado pela OMS, considerando que se ficar provado que houve manipulação é preciso tirar as devias lições.

Ouvida pela TSF, Maria de Belém Roseira diz que, até hoje, nada prova que estas acusações tenham razão de ser, admitindo, no entanto, que houve vários países que demonstraram alguma falta de bom senso na compra das vacinas.

Mas, em Portugal, há também quem partilhe das críticas do presidente da Comissão de Saúde do Conselho da Europa.

É o caso de António Vaz Carneiro, professor na Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de Lisboa, embora afirme compreender a reacção dos vários governos, em função do que foi dito pela OMS, fala num falso alarme que não justificava as medidas que foram adoptadas.

Até hoje, a pandemia de gripe A matou cerca de 13 mil pessoas em todo o mundo, 94 em Portugal.

Indian scientists detect signs of life on Moon

Bangalore: Scientists at the Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) are on the brink of a path-breaking discovery. They may have found signs of life in some form or the other on the Moon.

They believe so because scientific instruments on India's firstunmanned lunar mission, Chandrayaan-1, picked up signatures of organicmatter on parts of the Moon's surface, Surendra Pal, associatedirector, Isro Satellite Centre (Isac), said at the international radarsymposium here on Friday.Organic matter consists of organic compounds, which consists of carbon -- the building block of life. It indicates the formation of life or decay of a once-living matter.Palsaid the signatures were relayed back to the Bylalu deep space networkstation near Bangalore by the mass spectrometer on board the Indianpayload, the moon impact probe (MIP), on November 14, 2008. Therelay of data happened moments before it crashed near the Moon's southpole. The MIP was the first experiment of the Chandrayaan-1 mission,which was launched on October 22, 2008.Pal, however, did notelaborate, but concluded saying "the findings are being analysed andscrutinised for validation by Isro scientists and peer reviewers"."Itis too early to say anything," said the director of Isro's spacephysics laboratory R Sridharan, who is heading the team of MIP dataanalysis and study. He, however, did not deny the finding.DNAlater inquired with other senior Chandrayaan-1 mission scientists, whonot only confirmed the finding, but gave further details."Certainatomic numbers were observed that indicated the presence of carboncomponents. TSA funding airport mind-reading scanners

Amid the media furor over the attempted Christmas Day attacks and a renewed political focus on enhancing airport security, attention is turning to a technological advancement that will have civil rights activists — or, for that matter, anyone with a secret –seriously worried: Mind-reading machines.
“As far-fetched as that sounds, systems that aim to get inside an evildoer’s head are among the proposals floated by security experts thinking beyond the X-ray machines and metal detectors used on millions of passengers and bags each year,” AP’s Michael Tarm reports.
Tarm focuses on an Israeli company called WeCU Technologies (as in “we see you”), which is building a system that would turn airport waiting areas into arenas for Pavlovian behavioral tests:

The system … projects images onto airport screens, such as symbols associated with a certain terrorist group or some other image only a would-be terrorist would recognize, company CEO Ehud Givon said.
The logic is that people can’t help reacting, even if only subtly, to familiar images that suddenly appear in unfamiliar places. If you strolled through an airport and saw a picture of your mother, Givon explained, you couldn’t help but respond.

The reaction could be a darting of the eyes, an increased heartbeat, a nervous twitch or faster breathing, he said. The WeCU system would use humans to do some of the observing but would rely mostly on hidden cameras or sensors that can detect a slight rise in body temperature and heart rate.

Homeland Security officials have long been keen on Israeli counter-terror technologies, given the country’s extensive experience with terrorism and its reputation for having some of the most effective security systems in the world.

According to numerous news reports, WeCU has received two grants, from the US Transportation Security Administration and the Department of Homeland Security, for their research. Raw Story was unable to determine how much money WeCU received from the US government, but regulatory filings show the company spent at least $60,000 on lobbying in Washington in 2006 and 2007.
WeCU has already developed a prototype model of the mind-reading technology, which, according to an article in the Israeli newspaper Haaretz, has already been demonstrated to government security officials in the US, Germany and Israel. It was evidently from that demonstration that US agencies decided to fund the project.
“It sounds like science fiction,” WeCU CEO Ehud Givon told the Jerusalem Post. “But I can assure you that the technology is very real. We have accuracy rates that are higher than 95 percent.”
Supporters of mind-reading technology argue that it would reduce waiting lines at security checkpoints and reduce the hassle for travelers. But the risks to personal privacy inherent in mind-reading technologies are self-evident. AP reports:

Some critics have expressed horror at the approach, calling it Orwellian and akin to “brain fingerprinting.”
For civil libertarians, attempting to read a person’s thoughts comes uncomfortably close to the future world depicted in the movie “Minority Report,” where a policeman played by Tom Cruise targets people for “pre-crimes,” or merely thinking about breaking the law.

WeCU’s technology is by no means the only mind-reading security system in development today. Another Israeli company, Suspect Detection Systems, has developed a technology that reads a person’s “hostile intent” by measuring bodily responses, through the person’s hand, while being asked questions. That system was field-tested at the Knoxville, Tennessee, airport last summer.
Between 2005 and 2006, SDS received $460,000 in grants from the TSA and the science directorate of Homeland Security.
The company appears to have ramped up its public relations in the wake of the Christmas Day bombing attempt.
“A simple five minute automated interrogation during the Visa application process, or at the airport security checkpoint, would have most assuredly exposed the evil intention of Christmas terrorist Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab before he ever boarded,” SDS CEO Shabtai Shoval said in a press release.
But while these methods are still in development, other behavior-detection technologies, that have less to do directly with reading minds, are on the cusp of being ready for deployment. The Department of Homeland Security has given the green light to FAST, or Future Attribute Screening Technology, which uses a combination of biometric scanners to measure a person’s pulse, breathing, pupil dilation and other signals that can determine “hostile intent.”
While FAST isn’t quite as intrusive as the WeCU system, it appears to be much closer to implementation, with field testing of the $20-million technology set to begin in 2011.

Livro diz que astronautas viram OVNI na Lua

Um livro que será publicado na próxima semana garante que o astronauta «Buzz» Aldrin revelou em entrevista ter visto um OVNI depois de pisar a Lua.

O livro será publicado pelo boliviano Eduardo Ascarrunz, que garante ter obtido a revelação numa entrevista feita há 10 anos a Aldrin, um dos astronautas norte-americanos que a 20 de Julho de 1969 pisaram solo lunar.

A nave em causa terá sido descrita pelos astronautas como semi-esférica e de acordo com o livro de Ascarrunz, a informação foi mantida secreta por motivos políticos.

9/11 Commission whitewash chief Thomas Kean told CNN yesterday that the Christmas Day plane bomber “did us a favor,” by allowing Obama to expand the so-called war on terror into Yemen, a startling reminder that the highly suspicious Flight 253 attack served to fulfil pre-determined U.S. geopolitical objectives.

“This guy in some respects looking at it in retrospective probably did us a favor,” Kean told CNN’s State of the Union Sunday talk show, adding that the attempted attack shifted the Obama administration’s attention away from health care and global warming and back to the war on terror.

“We weren’t really focused on Yemen and the terrible things that are happening there. Now we are and that’s a good thing,” said Kean.

“The GOP chairman’s quote raised eyebrows; by his logic, the Sept. 11, 2001 attackers may also have “done us a favor” by drawing US attention to extremism in Afghanistan,” writes Raw Story’s John Byrne.

However, Kean’s implication that Yemen was not a subject of U.S. geopolitical interest before the attempted attack drew attention to the country is completely at odds with the facts.

A December 24 BBC News report entitled Yemen: New frontier in US ‘war on terror’ revealed how the U.S. had already invested $70 million dollars over the last year on expanding the war on terror into Yemen and that “US intelligence agencies are keeping a closer and closer watch in this newly-emerging theatre in the “war on terror”.”

A week after the incident, President Obama pinned the blame for the attack on terrorists based in Yemen despite the fact that no formal investigation into the bombing had been concluded.

Obama’s statement came one day after Britain’s PM Gordon Brown called an “emergency summit” on “extremism” in Yemen. “Gordon Brown has invited key international partners to a high-level meeting in order to discuss how best to counter radicalization in Yemen,” a statement issued by Downing Street announced. “The prime minister will host the event on 28 January in London.”

The fact that the aborted plane bombing attack provided the perfect justification to expand U.S. military operations into Arabian Peninsula in the name of fighting Al-Qaeda makes the suspicious circumstances surrounding the December 25 incident all the more alarming.

As we have documented, The FBI has repeatedly changed its story in a haphazard effort to accommodate eyewitness testimony from passengers that conflicts with the official version of events.

At first the FBI denied that a second man was arrested in connection with the incident but later admitted a second man was handcuffed after Flight 253 passenger and eyewitness Kurt Haskell said he saw an Indian man being led away by authorities after sniffer dogs had found something in his luggage.

Officials then claimed that the man had not been on Flight 253 at all and was not connected with the incident, but had to reverse their statement again just days later when other eyewitnesses emerged, admitting that the man had been on the plane.

The fact that the FBI is apparently protecting accomplices involved with the bombing attempt, and thereby keeping the official story within the script necessary to pin the attack on a lone man from Yemen who was inspired by Al-Qaeda, blatantly suggests that the facts are being manipulated to fit a pre-conceived geopolitical agenda.

Vatican astronomer cites possibility of extraterrestrial 'brothers'

VATICAN CITY — The Vatican's chief astronomer says there is no conflict between believing in God and in the possibility of extraterrestrial "brothers" perhaps more evolved than humans.
"In my opinion this possibility exists," said the Reverend José Gabriel Funes, head of the Vatican Observatory and a scientific adviser to Pope Benedict XVI, referring to life on other planets.
"How can we exclude that life has developed elsewhere," he said in an interview with the Vatican newspaper L'Osservatore Romano, published in its Tuesday-Wednesday edition. The large number of galaxies with their own planets makes this possible, he noted.
Asked if he was referring to beings similar to humans or even more evolved than humans, he said: "Certainly, in a universe this big you can't exclude this hypothesis."
In the interview headlined, "The extraterrestrial is my brother," he said he saw no conflict between belief in such beings and faith in God.
"Just as there is a multiplicity of creatures on earth, there can be other beings, even intelligent, created by God. This is not in contrast with our faith because we can't put limits on God's creative freedom," he said.
"Why can't we speak of a 'brother extraterrestrial'? It would still be part of creation."
Funes, who runs the observatory that is based south of Rome and in Arizona, held out the possibility that the human race might actually be the "lost sheep" of the universe.
There could be other beings "who remained in full friendship with their creator," he said.
Christians have sometimes been at odds with scientists over whether the Bible should be read literally and issues such as creationism versus evolution have been debated for decades.
The Inquisition condemned Galileo in the 17th century for insisting that the Earth revolved around the Sun. The Roman Catholic Church did not rehabilitate him until 1992.
Funes said dialogue between faith and science could be improved if scientists learned more about the Bible and the church kept more up to date with scientific progress.
He said he believed as an astronomer that the most likely explanation for the start of the universe was "the big bang," the theory that it sprang into existence from dense matter billions of years ago. But he said this was not in conflict with faith in God as creator. "God is the creator," he said. "There is a sense to creation. We are not children of an accident."
He added: "As an astronomer, I continue to believe that God is the creator of the universe and that we are not the product of something casual but children of a good father who has a project of love in mind for us."

“Institutional framework” paves the way for unelected international bureaucracy

Amid all the mainstream media reports of the talks in Copenhagen “limping” to a close and having failed, Lord Christopher Monckton, reporting from the summit, has stated that the only goal of the conference was to implement the framework and the funding for a world government – which he asserts has been achieved.

“That is the one thing that they are definitely going to succeed in doing here and they will announce that as a victory in itself, and they will be right because that is the one and only single aim of this entire global warming conference, to establish the mechanism, the structure, and above all the funding for a world government.” the British politician, business consultant, policy adviser exclusively told the Alex Jones show yesterday.

“They are going to take from the western countries the very large financial resources required to do that.” Monckton said, adding “They will disguise it by saying they are setting up a $100 billion fund for adaptation to climate change in third world countries, but actually, this money will almost all be gobbled up by the international bureaucracy.”

“The first thing they will do, and the one thing I think they were always going to succeed in doing at this conference is to agree to establish what will be delicately called ‘the institutional framework’. Now that is a code word for world government.”

Lord Monckton explained that although the word “government” has been dropped from the treaty, all the interlocking bureaucratic features of a world government are still present in the final draft of the treaty, which also legislates for a global tax on financial transactions that will be paid directly to the World Bank.

“These are the new entities that they are going to bring into being in order to create this world government” he said.

“Ban Ki Moon, the head of the UN is clearly expecting that part of the treaty to go through because he is saying that we are going to have to set up a structure of global governance just to handle the enormous amounts of money which we are going to be getting from the countries of the West, once this agreement goes through at Copenhagen.” Monckton added

Ban Ki-moon made those comments on Wednesday in an interview with the LA Times in which he also said that a formal treaty would be signed by mid-2010.

“They are expecting to get this through,” the British peer stated, “so all the reports you see about how the parties are fatally deadlocked, China has walked out, the African countries have walked out… all of these things are the traditional window dressing to try to disarm those of us who don’t want any of this to succeed because we’d rather like to see our national sovereignty preserved.”

Monckton explained that there is still a great deal of hope in fighting the establishment of an unelected world government:

“What has been going on over the last ten days is they have been trying to see whether they can get a binding treaty, and more or less at the outset they realised they would have to abandon that because it would never pass the U.S. Senate.”

“If they call it a treaty it requires two thirds of the U.S. Senate to vote for it and there are just too many blue dog Democrats, as well as sensible Republicans, who will not vote for the destruction of the U.S. Constitution, the establishment of a world government, for the bankrupting of the United States, the destruction of working people’s jobs right across the industries of the U.S.”

“If they declare that they are going to do this and they do not have the constitutional authority to do this, and that will certainly be the case in the United States, then it is possible to fight it.” Monckton added.

Following president Obama’s announcement that he would attempt to circumvent the legislative process and bypass Congress to implement a cap and trade system on carbon emissions, Lord Monckton noted “If he tries to do that he will be impeached.”

“He had better tread very carefully indeed or he will be out of office and in prison before he knows it. There are constitutional constraints which, thank god, may yet save not only America but the rest of the world from what you rightly describe as a tyranny.”

“World government is coming because the leaders of the West have given up. They no longer care about democracy, they know longer care about the truth about the climate.” Monckton said. “They are willing to go along with this world government because they see roles for themselves in that world government in exactly the same way as the leaders of the EU did.”

“They can get more power as unelected leaders than they can at home.” Monckton added.

The British peer also spoke of the physical attacks on skeptics at Copenhagen by UN security, police and other demonstrators, adding that he himself was attacked and knocked out by a Danish police officer acting under UN authority after not allowing him access to a forum at the summit.

Climagate: O pior escândalo científico da nossa era

Por todo o mundo o escândalo do Climategate repercute de modo cada vez mais intenso — excepto em Portugal. Aqui é como se nada houvesse acontecido pois está a ser encoberto e silenciado. Jornais que se fartaram de promover a falcatrua do aquecimento global – como o Público – fingem agora nada ter a ver com o assunto. Pior, desonestamente continuam a desinformar e a promover o terrorismo climático. Eles que se auto-apregoam como jornais "de referência" (do que?) nem sequer se atêm ao princípio jornalístico básico de apresentar as várias versões de um acontecimento.

Por sua vez, o governo do sr. Sócrates, que andou a gastar rios de dinheiro com a intrujice do aquecimento global, também faz de conta que o escândalo nada tem a ver consigo. Continua (de forma ignorante) a confundir clima com ambiente e a deformar a política energética do país pondo-a ao reboque da impostura do aquecimento global.

E finalmente a União Europeia que se fartou de promover o célebre Protocolo de Quioto – e igualmente a deformar a política energética da UE atrelando-a ao aquecimento global e aos supostos malefícios provocados pelas diabolizadas emissões de CO2 – anda igualmente calada como um rato.

Mais depressa se apanha um mentiroso do que um coxo.

Não se pode permitir que o nosso irremediavelmente comprometido establishment científico escape impune com uma tentativa de camuflagem quanto às estatísticas do aquecimento global.

Uma semana depois de o meu colega James Delingpole, no seu blog Telegraph, cunhar a expressão "Climategate" para descrever o escândalo revelado pela fuga de emails da Climatic Research Unit da Universidade de East Anglia, o Google mostrava que a palavra agora aparece mais de nove milhões de vezes na Internet. Mas em toda esta vasta área de cobertura electrónica, um ponto enormemente relevante acerca destes milhares de documentos tem sido em grande medida omitido.

A razão porque mesmo George Monbiot, do Guardian, exprimiu choque total e desalento com o quadro revelado pelos documentos é que os seus autores não são simplesmente qualquer antigo grupo de académicos. A sua importância não pode ser super-estimada. O que estamos a ver aqui é o pequeno grupo de cientistas que durante anos tem sido mais influente do que qualquer outro na promoção do alarme em todo o mundo acerca do aquecimento global, nem que seja através do papel que desempenharam no cerne do Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) da ONU.

O professor Philip Jones, o director do CRU, é o responsável pelos dois conjuntos de dados chave utilizados pelo IPCC para redigir os seus relatórios. Através do seu link ao Hadley Centre, parte do Met Office britânico, o qual selecciona a maior parte dos contribuidores científicos fundamentais do IPCC, o seu registo da temperatura global é o mais importante dos quatro conjuntos de dados de temperatura sobre os quais repousam o IPCC e os governos – nem que seja para as suas previsões de que o mundo aquecerá a níveis catastróficos a menos que milhões de milhões de dólares sejam gastos para o impedir.

O artigo continua após esta advertência:

O dr. Jones também é uma peça chave do grupo estreitamente coeso de cientistas americanos e britânicos responsáveis por promover o quadro das temperaturas mundiais transmitido pelo gráfico do "hockey stick" de Michael Mann, o qual 10 anos atrás inverteu a história do clima ao mostrar que, após 1000 anos de declínio, as temperaturas globais haviam recentemente disparado para os mais altos níveis da história registada.

Tendo-lhe sido atribuído o estrelato pelo IPCC, ainda que seja pelo modo como pareceu eliminar o desde há muito aceite Período Quente Medieval, quando as temperaturas eram mais elevadas do que hoje, o gráfico tornou-se o ícone central de todo o movimento do aquecimento global de origem antropogénica.

Desde 2003, contudo, quando os métodos estatísticos utilizados para criar o "hockey stick" foram pela primeira vez denunciados pelo perito estatístico canadiano Steve McIntyre como fundamentalmente enviesados, uma batalha cada vez mais acalorada tem estado a ser travada entre os apoiantes de Mann, que se auto-denominam "a Equipe Hockey", e McIntyre e os seus próprios aliados, pois eles têm posto em causa de modo cada vez mais devastador toda a base estatística sobre a qual o IPCC e a CRU construíram a sua argumentação.

Os remetentes e destinatários dos emails escapados da CRU constituem a lista da elite científica do IPCC, incluindo não apenas a "Equipe Hockey", tal como o próprio dr. Mann, o dr. Jones e o seu colega da CRU Keith Briffa, como também Ben Santer, responsável por uma altamente controversa re-redacção de passagens chave do relatório do IPCC de 1995; Kevin Trenberth que de modo igualmente controverso empurrou o IPCC para o alarmismo quanto à actividade de furacões; e Gavin Schmidt, a mão direita do aliado de Al Gore, o dr. James Hansen, cujo registo próprio do GISS [Goddard Institute for Space Studies] de dados de temperatura superficial é o segundo em importância após o da própria CRU.

Nos documentos revelados há três sequências em particular que enviaram uma onda de choque aos observadores informados de todo o mundo. Talvez a mais óbvia, como lucidamente destacado por Willis Eschenbach (ver o blog Climate Audit de McIntyre e o blog Watts Up With That de Anthony Watt), é a altamente perturbadora série de emails que mostra como o dr. Jones e os seus colegas durante anos estiveram a discutir as tácticas tortuosas pelas quais podiam evitar divulgar os seus dados para outros [cientistas] externos de acordo com a legislação sobre liberdade de informação (freedom of information laws).

Eles sugeriram todas as desculpas possíveis a fim de esconder os dados de base sobre os quais se baseavam as suas descobertas e registos de temperatura.

OS DADOS "PERDIDOS" DO DR. JONES

Isto por si mesmo tornou-se um grande escândalo, nem que seja pela recusa do dr. Jones a divulgar os dados básicos a partir dos quais a CRU extrai o seu muito influente registo de temperatura, o que no último Verão culminou com a sua espantosa afirmação de que grande parte dos dados de todo o mundo havia simplesmente sido "perdida". O mais incriminador de tudo são os emails nos quais cientistas são aconselhados a eliminar (to delete) grandes blocos (chunks) de dados. Quando isto acontece após a recepção de um requerimento ao abrigo da lei de liberdade de informação constitui um delito criminoso.

Mas a questão que inevitavelmente se levanta desta recusa sistemática a divulgar os seus dados é: o que é que estes cientistas parecem tão ansiosos por esconder? A segunda e mais chocante revelação dos documentos escapados é como eles mostram cientistas a tentarem manipular dados através dos seus tortuosos programas de computador, sempre a apontar apenas para a direcção desejada – reduzir temperaturas passadas e "ajustar" em alta temperaturas recentes, a fim de transmitir a impressão de um aquecimento acelerado. Isto verificou-se tão frequentemente (nos documentos relativos a dados de computador no ficheiro Harry Read Me) que se tornou o elemento único mais perturbador de toda a história. Foi isto que o sr. McIntyre apanhou o dr. Hansen a fazer com o seu registo de temperatura do GISS do ano passado (após o que Hansen foi forçado a rever o seu registo), e dois novos exemplos chocantes agora vieram à luz na Austrália e na Nova Zelândia.

Em cada um destes países foi possível aos cientistas locais compararem o registo da temperatura oficial com os dados originais sobre os quais supostamente estavam baseados. Em cada caso é claro que o mesmo truque foi efectuado – transformar um gráfico de temperatura basicamente constante num gráfico que mostra temperaturas a elevarem-se firmemente. Em cada caso esta manipulação foi executada sob a influência da CRU.

O que é tragicamente evidente a partir do ficheiro Harry Read Me é o quadro que transmite dos cientistas da CRU irremediavelmente confusos com os complexos programas de computador que conceberam para contorcer os seus dados na direcção aprovada, mais de uma vez a exprimirem o seu próprio desespero quanto à dificuldade em conseguirem os resultados que desejavam.

O SILENCIAMENTO DE PERITOS CONTESTATÁRIOS

A terceira revelação chocante nestes documentos é o modo implacável como estes académicos estiveram determinados a silenciar qualquer perito que questionasse as descobertas a que haviam chegado por tão dúbios métodos – não apenas pela recusa a revelar os seus dados de base como também pela desacreditação e exclusão de qualquer publicação científica que ousasse publicar os seus trabalhos de crítica. Aparentemente eles estavam preparados para travar, se não a reprimir, o debate científico por este meio, nem que seja por assegurar que nenhuma investigação divergente teria lugar nas páginas dos relatórios do IPCC.

Já em 2006, quando o eminente estatístico estado-unidense professor Edward Wegman produziu um relatório pericial para o Congresso dos EUA corroborando a demolição de Steve McIntyre do [gráfico do] "hockey stick", ele denunciou o modo como este mesmo "grupo duramente coeso" de académicos parecia entusiástico apenas em colaborar uns com os outros e fazer "avaliações para publicação" ("peer review") só dos documentos uns dos outros a fim de dominar os resultados daqueles relatórios do IPCC sobre os quais grande parte do futuro dos EUA e da economia mundial poderiam depender. À luz das mais recentes revelações, agora parece ainda mais evidente que estes homens fracassaram na defesa daqueles princípios que jazem no cerne da investigação e debate científico genuínos. Agora um respeitado cientista climático dos EUA, o dr. Eduardo Zorita, propôs que o dr. Mann e o dr. Jones fossem excluídos de qualquer nova participação no IPCC. Mesmo o nosso próprio George Monbiot, horrorizado ao descobrir como fora traído pelos supostos peritos que estivera a reverenciar e a citar por tanto tempo, apelou ao dr. Jones para que se demitisse da chefia da CRU.

O antigo chanceler Lord (Nigel) Lawson, ao lançar na semana passada o seu novo grupo de influência (think tank), o Global Warming Policy Foundation, apelou correctamente a uma investigação independente dentro do labirinto de trapaças revelado pelas fugas da CRU. Mas o inquérito, posto a debate na sexta-feira possivelmente será presidido por Lord Rees, presidente da Royal Society – ela própria uma desavergonhada propagandista da causa aquecimentista –, está longe de ser o que Lord Lawson tinha em mente. Ao nosso establishment científico, irremediavelmente comprometido, não pode ser permitido escapar com um branqueamento do que se tornou o maior escândalo científico da nossa era.

Blair decidiu entrar no Iraque um ano antes da invasão

Um inquérito britânico sobre a participação britânica na invasão do Iraque ouviu hoje, sexta-feira, que Tony Blair, o ex-primeiro-ministro, tomou a decisão de participar na acção militar após um encontro com Bush, em 2002. Um ano antes da invasão.

O testemunho do antigo embaixador britânico nos Estados Unidos, Christopher Meyer, descreveu como foi no dia após uma visita de Blair à propriedade dos Bush que o antigo chefe de Executivo britânico mencionou pela primeira vez uma mudança no regime político iraquiano.

A falar no terceiro dia de inquérito, o antigo diplomata sugeriu que os dois políticos possam ter feito um pacto durante a visita na Primavera de 2002. “Eles não se encontraram para discutir medidas de contenção ou novas sanções”, afirmou, condenando a decisão de Blair.

Meyer afirmou que Margaret Thatcher teria lidado melhor com a situação e descreveu a estratégia no Iraque como “pouco coerente” e “um fracasso” no que respeita ao planeamento pós-guerra. O antigo embaixador acrescentou ainda que a proximidade entre Blair e Bush não trouxe quaisquer benefícios ao Reino Unido.

O inquérito sobre a participação britânica na guerra do Iraque teve início na terça-feira, culminando com uma longa batalha por mais informação sobre a legitimidade da invasão.

Hoje, o inquérito ouviu também que, no dia do 11 de Setembro, os Estados Unidos estavam já a considerar invadir o Iraque. Num telefonema, Condoleezza Rice (então Secretária de Estado) afirmou que responsáveis em Washingtone estavam já a tentar averiguar um envolvimento de Sadam.

NASA descobre água na Lua

A NASA descobriu quantidades "significativas" de água congelada na Lua, anunciou hoje um responsável da agência espacial norte-americana.

No passado dia 09 de Outubro, a NASA lançou uma sonda na Lua para procurar vestígios de água na superfície lunar.
A sonda LCROSS (Lunar Crater Observation and Sensing Satellite) embateu próximo da cratera Cabeus, situada no pólo sul da Lua, local que os cientistas julgavam com mais hipóteses de conter vestígios de água.
Antes da sonda, a agência espacial lançou um projéctil com cerca de duas toneladas contra a Lua.

Has Baxter International released a biological weapon?
Evidence appears to suggest that Baxter International is responsible for a new deadly outbreak of viral pneumonia in Ukraine.

In February of 2009 Bloomberg reported that Baxter "accidentally" send vaccine material containing both live Avian bird flu and seasonal influenza to multiple laboratories worldwide. A laboratory decided to test the vaccine on it's ferrets, but the ferrets all unexpectedly died. It must be noted that Baxter has made a "mistake" like this before. Blood products produced by Baxter once containd HIV. Thousands of haemophiliacs died due to this, and many went on to infect their spouses.

Later in the year, a bizarre story emerged on the internet. The Huffington Post reported on a a man named Joseph Moshe who was arrested after a hours long standoff with the police because he had supposedly made threats against the White House. The man was able to withstand multiple rounds of tear gas.

However, the internet community was very skeptical of the true reasons behidn this man's arrest. Comments on the Huffington Post website immediately began pouring in about an unreported side to this story, namely that Joseph Moshe was a Mossad Agent specialized in biological warfare who called into a radio show to warn people about a biological weapn that was being made by Baxter international that would be spread through vaccine and would cause a plague upon it's release.

Although anyone can make a doomsday claim and we should never believe anyone (and it must be said that the Truth movement handled this well, the message was spread without being proclaimed as gospel) the amazing part about Moshe's claim was the location where Moshe said the biological weapon was being produced.

Moshe claimed that Baxter's laboratory in the Ukraine out of all places was creating this biological weapon. All of this came out in the beginning of August, which is more than 2 months before the situation that is currently unfolding. For Moshe to correctly name the country where a new epidemic would be unleashed, requires either inside information, or an incredible coincidence as anyone with a basic knowledge of statistics can confirm for himself.

Let us assume for a moment that every person on our planet has an equal chance of giving rise to a new lethal epidemic due to a virus that mutates as it spreads through his body. The Ukraine has 46 million inhabitants. The current estimated global population is about 6.7 billion. This means that if a new epidemic were to arise, the chance of this epidemic starting in the Ukraine would be 0.69%. However, it appears that this virus is a form of flu. This makes the odds of being right when guessing that a deadly flu is going to break out in the Ukraine even smaller. The reason for this is that back in early August the vast majority of influenza infections were found in different countries than the Ukraine. In fact, on 30 Oktober, Earthtimes reported that Ukraine had officially reported only two cases of swine flu, and no deaths, until last Friday. This deadly epidemic appears to have arrived out of nowhere in the Ukraine.

Moshe's biomed profile appears to confirm his position as a microbiologist. Furthermore, this page with Baxter's contact information for it's Ukraine office confirms that Baxter has a presence in the Ukraine.

It must also be noted that massive numbers of microbiologists have been dying bizarre deaths. This case of what appears to be a brave man who sacrificed it all to bring us this message may explain why so many microbiologists have been murdered. The fact that this man managed to predict an outbreak of highly lethal influenza in a place where we would least expect it, 2 months before it a actually occured, lends credence to his claim that Baxter International is responsible for the outbreak and shows that top microbiologists can pose a problem to the people responsible for this ongoing disaster.

Update 3: According to the Huffington post comments I cited above, Dr. Moshe claimed that the virus used replicated RNA of the 1918 Spanish flu. Symptoms of the 1919 Flu include victims being drenched in blood:

The 1918 influenza was not the flu Americans were familiar with. It was a horror that turned victims bluish-black then drowned them with their own body fluids. the death toll was highest in the ages 15 to 40, those in the peak of health. The victims would be fine one minute and the next incapacitated, fever-racked, and delirious. Temperatures rose to 104-106 degrees, skin turned blue, purple, or deep brown from lack of oxygen. Massive pneumonia attacked the lungs, filling them with fluid; blood gushed from the nose. Death was quick, savage, and terrifying.

O Presidente norte-americano proclamou hoje o estado de emergência sanitária nos Estados Unidos devido à epidemia de gripe A que já provocou mais de mil mortos em todo o país, anunciou a Casa Branca.

Entre as muitas teorias que têm surgido sobre o novo vírus da gripe A (H1N1), a de Rauni Kilde, ex-directora clínica da província finlandesa da Lapónia, é inédita: defende que a OMS mente nas estatísticas que apresenta e que as “elites” estão concertadas para reduzir a população mundial a dois terços.

Numa entrevista que circula na Internet há algumas semanas, a médica Rauni Kilde, questionada sobre a gripe A, declara que a informação que existe sobre o novo vírus H1N1 é “autêntico lixo”. Kilde é peremptória: “Não é a gripe suína que é perigosa, são as vacinas”.
Numa entrevista de quase sete minutos, Kilde começa por dizer que a humanidade desconhece os efeitos dos alimentos transgénicos ou da utilização dos telemóveis na saúde, e que tudo se resume a uma estratégia concertada das “elites” para reduzir a população mundial a pelo menos dois terços ou “até em cinco mil milhões” de pessoas.

Segundo Rauni Kilde, “por detrás de tudo está a diminuição da população mundial” e o objectivo é “colocar milhões nos bolsos de quem difunde [as vacinas]”.
A médica fala em Donald Rumsfeld, que foi director da Gilead Sciences, Inc., a empresa detentora da patente do medicamento Tamiflu, e que tem sido apontado como detentor de acções da empresa.
Kilde acredita que as recomendações para vacinar primeiro grávidas e crianças têm como propósito “eliminar a próxima geração”.
A médica refere-se ainda à epidemia de uma variante da gripe suína que surgiu na década de 70, nos Estados Unidos da América, que envolveu uma grande campanha de vacinação. Kilde refere que os EUA "deixaram a vacinação após três semanas porque havia muita gente a morrer e com danos neurológicos" e que "se asseguraram de que as pessoas não são compensadas pelos danos sofridos".
"Os Governos estão a lançar uma propaganda de medo nos 'mass media'. Todos os media dizem que vai ser terrível. É propaganda e as pessoas assustam-se", defende, sustentando ainda que a Organização Mundial de Saúde está a obrigar as pessoas a serem vacinadas "à força" e que activou o alerta de uma pandemia de nível seis para esse efeito. "Vê-se em qualquer país do mundo: as pessoas não estão doentes", declarou.

A agência sueca do medicamento está a investigar a morte de um homem doze horas depois de ser vacinado contra o vírus da gripe A (H1N1), apesar de até agora não ter sido estabelecida uma relação causa-efeito.

Num primeiro relatório publicado no seu site na Internet sobre as reacções adversas da vacina Pandemrix (GSK) registadas na Suécia, a agência do medicamento refere cerca de 100 casos, dos quais seis avaliados como graves, um dos quais resultou numa morte.
O homem padecia de aterosclerose grave, o que lhe provocava sérios problemas no funcionamento dos órgãos. A vítima sofreu uma dor de peito antes de morrer.
A autópsia revelou que o homem tinha aterosclerose generalizada, incluindo nas artérias coronárias, e sinais de vários enfartes do miocárdio sofridos anteriormente.
O caso está a ser investigado, mas de acordo com as informações recolhidas até agora pela agência sueca não há uma associação entre a vacinação e a causa de morte.
Esta entidade conclui que, em geral, os idosos e os doentes com factores de risco têm um risco acrescido de desenvolver complicações da sua doença, o que pode ser ocasionalmente associado à vacinação, sem que haja uma relação de causalidade provada.
Os restantes cinco casos relatados, em que a ligação com a vacina é considerada possível ou provável, prendem-se com sintomas como tonturas e comichões, pressão no peito, dificuldades respiratórias e inchaço na face ou nos pés.
Todos estes doentes tiveram tratamento no hospital com cortisona e ou adrenalina e anti-histamínicos.
Na Suécia foram distribuídas mais de 500 mil doses, mas ainda não foram contabilizadas as que foram administradas desde que começou a campanha de vacinação, a 16 de Outubro.
Os primeiros grupos a serem vacinados são os profissionais de saúde, idosos (que não estão incluídos nos grupos prioritários de vacinação em Portugal), doentes crónicos e mulheres grávidas.
Contactado pela Lusa, o porta-voz da autoridade nacional do medicamento portuguesa, Carlos Pires, adiantou que a Agência Europeia do Medicamento (EMEA) já informou o Infarmed da morte do homem, adiantando que não há uma relação de causalidade com a vacina.
Por seu turno, a directora de comunicação da Glaxo SmithKline, que produz a vacina Pandemrix, confirmou à Lusa este caso, sublinhando que o laboratório, em colaboração com as autoridades de saúde suecas, está a "monotorizar toda a evolução da vacinação".
A vacina Pandermix vai começar a ser administrada em Portugal na segunda-feira, sendo os grupos prioritários os profissionais de saúde, profissionais que desempenham funções essenciais ao normal funcionamento da sociedade e grávidas do segundo e terceiro trimestres de gestação com patologia.
Portugal encomendou seis milhões de doses de vacinas para administrar a três milhões de pessoas, que receberão duas doses cada. Esta encomenda custou ao Estado português 45 milhões de euros.

Berlusconi publica carta de apoio a Blair para presidência UE

O primeiro-ministro de Itália, Silvio Berlusconi, manifesta o seu apoio ao ex-primeiro-ministro britânico Tony Blair para a presidência da União Europeia, numa carta publicada num diário italiano. "Estou completamente de acordo com a sua ideia, até já estava antes de você a ter", escreve Berlusconi na carta, publicada pelo diário Il Foglio e dirigida ao seu antigo porta-voz Giuliano Ferrar, director do jornal.
"Tony Blair tem todas as competências necessárias para assumir o papel de primeiro presidente da UE, tal como ele é definido pelo Tratado de Lisboa, e para ser nomeado para esse cargo assim que seja jurídica e politicamente possível aplicar a cláusula que prevê a renovação da governação europeia", acrescenta.
"Em concordância com muitos outros chefes de Estado e de Governo e em coordenação com as forças vivas do Parlamento Europeu, o meu Governo e eu vamos mobilizar-nos para que uma grande herança política, construída na base da coragem, equilíbrio e prudência (...) não se disperse", conclui.

O ministro dos Negócios Estrangeiros italiano, Franco Frattini, afirmou no início deste mês que Itália preza Tony Blair e que veria com bons olhos a sua nomeação para a presidência da UE.

New York Nurses Suing State Over Forced Vaccinations

A group of nurses is suing the State of New York over mandatory H1N1 vaccinations, claiming that the threat of being fired for refusing is a violation of their civil rights.

The nurses, based at Albany Medical Center, say they have been told they will face a week of suspension without pay, followed by termination if they don’t get both the H1N1 and the seasonal flu vaccines by the end of October.

The New York mandate requires all health care workers to receive the vaccinations before the end of November.

The nurses say that they do not believe the vaccines are as effective as maintaining a good level of hygiene in preventing the flu.

They also state that the possible side effects outweigh any benefits, noting the fact that the H1N1 vaccine has been rushed through testing and production.

“I have had more staff that have become ill after the flu vaccines this year than coworkers that have actually come down with the illness,” Lorna Patterson, one of the nurses, told News 10 wten in Albany.

“People are being forced to do something by the government acting blindly for reasons that are not clear, but about which cynicism might not be an inappropriate attitude to take,” the nurses’ lawyer Terry Kindlon added.

“I think it’s reminiscent of the bank bailout of last year.” Kindlon stated.

“These health care workers are being stampeded into this, and we’re supposed to be a thoughtful, rational society that deals with things through due process and careful reflection. That’s not what [New York] want(s) them to do here. They’re saying, ‘Look you guys, get the shots or in two weeks, you’re on the street.’ That’s criminal. That’s ridiculous. That’s insane.”

The party say their lawsuit will be filed with New York Supreme Court before the end of the week.

This is the second high profile lawsuit filed so far by healthworkers over mandatory vaccinations. Earlier this month the Washington State Nurses Association filed a federal lawsuit against MultiCare Health System for instituting the policy at both Tacoma General and Good Samaritan hospitals.

Nurses across the country are standing up against government intimidation to take the shot, pointing out that the vaccine has not been properly tested and contains mercury, squalene and other dangerous additives.

Na altura, Mussolini estava longe de ser o ditador poderoso que fundaria o regime fascista.
